Industrial Alloys

Industrial alloys connect Iran’s metal supply with materials designed for machining, wear resistance, heat and corrosion. Producer documentation shows a varied steel product portfolio, while national ferrochromium statistics describe only one upstream input.

Materials distinguished by their intended work

An industrial alloy is useful because of the properties it delivers in service. Chromium illustrates the connection: it contributes corrosion and oxidation resistance, wear resistance and strength at elevated temperatures. Ferrochromium, an iron-chromium alloy, is an important additive for stainless-steel production. Chromite ore, ferrochromium and finished stainless steel are therefore distinct stages and products. s2

This distinction matters when reading Iranian industry statistics. A ferroalloy production figure measures an input to downstream manufacturing; it cannot establish how much finished alloy steel was made or which grades reached customers.

What Iranian producer documentation shows

Iran Alloy Steel Company’s product classification includes heat-treatable, heat-resistant, tool, free-cutting, stainless and case-hardening steels, alongside spring, bearing, valve and plastic-mould steels. These categories organize materials around different manufacturing and service requirements. s3

The distinctions are practical. Tool steels serve tools and dies; free-cutting steels emphasize machinability. Case-hardening steels are intended for components requiring a hard, wear-resistant surface, while heat-resistant steels address elevated-temperature service. The company’s classification establishes its advertised portfolio, rather than independently verified shipment volumes or performance for every grade. s3

Its homepage also describes steelmaking, light and heavy rolling, heat treatment, finishing and inspection. The central laboratory is presented as performing chemical, physical and mechanical tests. Together, these descriptions show that alloy production involves processing and verification as well as composition. They do not independently establish certification scope or customer acceptance. s4

A narrow statistical window

The accompanying series covers ferrochromium alone. It should not be labeled total Iranian alloy output. A national picture would additionally require comparable production and trade evidence for other alloying inputs and finished grades. s1

The useful conclusion is that Iran’s alloy sector should be understood through both material specifications and the stages of manufacture. Tonnage is informative only when its product boundary is explicit.

limitations

  • Producer descriptions establish advertised capabilities, not independently audited outcomes.
  • Undated live producer pages were inspected after the editorial cutoff; their exact cutoff-date contents are unconfirmed.

unverified items

  • National finished alloy-steel output by grade and producer.
  • Independent verification of product certification and current plant utilization.
  • A representative account of Iranian nonferrous industrial alloys.

data gaps

  • Only the inspected 2020–2024 ferrochromium series is included; a comparable 2012–2026 series was not established.
  • No defensible total spanning incompatible alloy families was constructed.

coverage period

Ferrochromium production: 2020–2024; undated producer documentation accessed in October 2026.
